Ok so I bought this off Ebay..
Sun Rims Single Track rear wheel, Disk only, international standard 6 bolt mounting, with a Shimano deore rear hub.Includes 150mm rear axle.

For starters,,, I don't think its a shimano hub,as its got press fit bearings. Unless shimano did a 150mmx12mm hub without cup/cone bearings i'm not sure.
Ther are no identifying marks or numbers on the hub.

secondly, i'm not sure its all there... I can for the life of me figure out how to arrange all the bits an pieces of the axle to get it to spin freely. Its definately a 150mm hub as it fits perfectly between the dropouts, but I don't think its in there properly.

I'm pretty sure i'm missing one of the bolts for one side of the axle.

Any ideas before I ask the seller a few questions?

    aint deore for starters.

looks like it is missing quite a few bits,

also looks like it has bits it should not have.

what is the axle length and the internal distance between the shiny bear surfaces?

  • Will update later, need to go round the GF's to get a measuring tape!

Once spaced properly it fits nice and straight in the middle of the dropouts

    Length = 195mm

    Shiny bit = 114mm

114 between the shiny bits or from the out sides?

seem too big. also looks like there is a bearing (or 2) missing from the body.

  • i'm thinking (from limited experience) that its an axle to be used with an old saint mech? one that bolts to the 12mm wheel axle?

sorry, 114mm is the length of the shiny bit.

not saint. it has shinny bits for the bearings to sit on which is not needed on the saint as it has a through axle.

what is it like with the end with the bits on fitted on the body side and the cap bit on the disc side.

  • I'll take pics of the only way I can make it look "fitted". the axle will only go one way by the looks of things. the bits fitted to the axle have to go into the drive side I think.

that is what i said

my concern is that there is nothing to space the bearings. but you could have the lock nut on the outside of the disc side cone shaped bit.

cone then lock nut, well lets see the underside of the cone.

  • cone and lockring changed... thing is, the cone is serrated, just like what a normal hub looks like where it touches the dropouts.

also, when spinning the wheel, the cone/lockring have to be loose otherwise the whole unit including the axle spins.

Either way, i'm definately missing a securing bolt for on side!

    cone is hollow..

    bits left over..

    ahhhhh.

needs to be filled so there are some spacers missing. the cone as i call the big bit should not touch any thing but spacers on the axle. (no not the bearing or the hub) can be close but no contact as it does not spin. the only non spinning bit is the axle.

so there should be one more lock nut minimum with the washer between.
