CAAD10 - any owners out there yet?

I am looking at a new bike so I can relegate my Giant to the winter/wet bike and not commute on the Look. A halfway house if you like. I am pretty sold on the Cannondale but can't find more than 1 or 2 real owner reviews.

Does anybody own one or is anybody aware of any supply issues here in the UK?

Cheers

24 hours later and no a peep. Just what I feared - vapourwear. Don't wait for the Crack'n'fail to get here, it never will. Yes I'm bitter that my CaadX never showed up (Evans have still not seen one) but I'm equally happy that I had the opportunity to purchase a Giant TCX for £399 and it's easily 90% of the road bike that my R3SL is, it's that good. Plus it goes offroad and keeps up with trail bikes.

If you're looking for a nice Al frameset look no further than the Canyon Ultimate Al. Check the website for more details. I was skiing a month a go in France and bought Top-Velo where they did a test of the Caad 10 and the Ultimate AL - for EUR 1500 you can get the frame with Ultegra - jeepers that's incredible! Frame weights for both are in the ~1250 gram category so they are close substitutes for each other.

In Mallorca last week I saw thousands of Germans on them as well, they really look nice. Afterall, where do you think that Cervelo get their engineering ideas from?

Oops. didnt see this thread. My LBS has a 105 CAAD10 which hasn't sold yet, and have moved the date from March to June for stock of the Ultegra version so i'm guessing supply issues or someones creating a demand

Good shout for the Canyon AL

10th -30th June for most versions, some due late April - I suspect shops who haven't pre-ordered bikes from these forthcoming deliveries will probably miss out though....

You missed the point my friend: the poster is in the UK, so am I, and maybe you are too. Do you know what's NOT in the UK ? You got it, 2011 Caad 10s or CaadXs. Total vapourware. Why exactly do I care if some guy in Walla Walla Washington is driving around on a nice new sparkly Caad 10? I'm not and that's all I care about. With argumentation like yours I hope you're not a lawyer for a living.

That new bike shop in Newcastle city centre has had the CAAD10 in for ages...well at least since Xmas. I was talking to the salesman comparing my 9 with the 10. I think they had a few in stock.

A quick google shows they have a website:

    http://www.startcycles.co.uk/prodtype.asp?strParents=&CAT_ID=4268&numRecordPosition=1

The CAAD10 they had was too white for me, plus I didn't have the money

They must have more savvy buying than Evans then. I can't even get one in my size (56cm road, 54cm CX) to test ride. They had £200 of my cash for 3+ months and they kept pushing the date out on me for ever. The bike I had my eye on was the CaadX with Ultegra.

A £1400 bike is just too much to buy on spec, I want to test ride the thing first. So while I appreciate that a shop in Newcastle has one, it may as well be Newcastle, Rhode Island for all the good it does for someone not near Newcastle.

At CX races around London and the South East as well the general chat in the pits was that the CaadX wasn't going to get here until spring, and this was back in November. Now it's spring and I've stopped looking.

    i've got one!
just received it today - ordered from Germany because nowhere in the UK could supply one.
It's a 54cm 105 compact and seems really micely put together - 8.1kg out of the box
i should get out on it at the weekend, so it'll be interesting to see how it rides.

I'm picking my CAAD10 up tomorrow
Billy Bisland in Glasgow has them
I'm getting the 105 build… tis a thing of beauty and stupidly light for alu. I was stunned by the weight…test ride first thing then if all things equal credit card out to buy it

think the full build (minus pedals) was 18lbs on the scales which if my math is right is just over 8kg
The frame a 54 is lighter than the Planet X SLPro carbon frame I think
Can't wait to get on the road with it
Enough bikes to open a bike shop but always room for one more...

@Shefbiker…what wheels did yours come with the Shimano RS10? how do you find them
Forgot to check out what wheels it had when i looked last week but think they're used on standard build
my son has Aksium Race which i think are the mavic equivalent how do they compare, any idea? heard mixed reviews about the RS10s some say great entry level wheel others say …it should be your first upgrade

@FranzJacques A return train ticket on a weekend to the 'North' wont cost you much and will be cheaper than postage of a Canyon from Germany. You also get to sit on it, cycle it and perhaps even buy it then take it home with you and you get a nice away day in the beautiful part of the country north of Watford where we have CAAD10s

i've no complaints at all about the wheels. they seemed be well built, tight, true and smooth, and have withstood quite a battering on sheffield and peak district roads.
I'm not able to offer a comparison with mavics, but i'd be surprised if there was a big gain.
moreover, the standard tyres are quite heavy, and could save a few 100 grams by swapping to pro3s for race day. but again, not an issue day-to-day.
swapping the actual wheels out would not be a priority.
i'd be interested in your view once you've riden it though!
  • Had my 56 cm CAAD 10 Ultegra from Pedal On Tadley nr Basingstoke in February.
It is probably the best bike I have ever owned for comfort and enjoyment.! Even better than my SRAM Red equiped carbon Focus Ilzaco with Fulcrum 1's.
The Mavic Aksiums on the CAAD10 are rather heavy but for spring and autumn riding locally suit me. I have a set of Campagnolo Euros wheels(shimano) for use in the mountains when we go to Spain. Although my dilemma now is whether to take the Focus as overall weight is around 500gms lighter than the CAAD10 and at 65 years of age I require all the help I can get for the stiff climbs. [/b]

well picked it up today…test ride confirmed the reviews confidence inducing cornering amazing handling and simply felt great to be on.
Upgraded the Shimano RS10 wheelset for Mavic Kysrium Equipe in white and have to say it totally makes the bike. Looks amazing and the ride is sublime. Also got a great deal on a pair of Schwalbe Ultremo tyres.

All in I can't stop grinning looking forward to a weekend of long runs. I'll post a picture soon.

The best bike I've ever owned for sure…Love it!

Had mine since December. Bought it from mud dock in Bristol and it's a brilliant bike. Rode a 109 mile sportive on it last week and it was comfortable and confidence inspiring throughout. Deffinately glad I chose it!

Don't get too hung up on the weight, my CAAD5 is 8.2 and I've not done the whole weight weenie thing on it. This CAAD5 is 6.7: http://weightweenies.starbike.com/articles.php?ID=87
The weight depends more on the components than the frame.

That said I'd love to see a CAAD10 in the flesh :-) I particularly like the satin black frame option.
