If i decide to keep my schwinn mesa gs i may upgrade the fork. The fork i have now is a manitou six. Any suggestions on what to replace it with? Bearing in mind the bike only cost me £350 in the first place.

I had the Schwinn Mesa GSD, I was just going to upgrade the fork but ended up building a whole new bike. The only things I kept were the WTB rims and Quando hubs, although the hubs aren't great they will do for now.
The Schwinn has a good light frame, but I found the top tube too cramped on the medium size (17.5 inches). It was a really good bike for the money (£250), it did me ok for a few trails.
To be honest you would be better buying a new bike.0 -
+1 on getting a new bike.
However, if you can hunt down a set of Tora, you will greatly improve your ride (especially if the 318).
The fork is the most important think on a bike, and worth investing in. Even if you do get a new bike later on, you can transfer the tora across.
Manitou drake is another to look out for.
Just one final thing, do not under any circumstances get fooled in to buying a Dart. Especially the more expensive darts (as you will have just wasted more money). Why would I care about 150g of bike weight, I just ate 400g of cookies while reading this?0 -
Another vote for the Rockshox Tora, I have the SL Coil 100mm 2010 version.
Picked up new on ebay last year for £120, it has lockout but not remote.
I'm not familiar with the new TK Silver/Gold models.0
