I had a spoon and it was horrible for me, but I've chnaged it for a gobi and it's much better. Still not perfect, but hey. I must have a weird butt. The guy in my LBS said that generally, the bigger guys prefer the spoon and the lighter ones(like me) prefer the gobi. I like the flex in the gobi too, it makes it more comfortable over the rough stuff when it doesn't quite warrant standing up (hardtail)

I have had and used both. I have stuck with my Gobi. Its comfortable, flexy in the right places, not obtrusive when you need to hang off the back but supportive when you are on a climb.

Neither are bad saddles, just the Gobi is better, and for £40 (where did you find it at that price?!) its worth the extra £15.

I tried the Gobi on my road bike and it was hellish, but in a more upright position its like riding a sofa for me, damn comfy.

It's the gobi xm with the cheaper rails but that doesn't bother me that much still seems a good price.

This I agree with. Mine does my head in, so forces me to stand up, no bad thing.

As for weight, will be fine

ive just fitted a charge knife to my road bike and it feels comfier than the charge spoon leather/ti saddle on my mtb, 40 grams lighter too. got it for £40 from evans but i think its gone up a fiver since but still a cracking deal. it just seems to have a bit more give, must be down to the thinner hull.
