New bike, around £700

Hi guys,

I've been mountain biking for a while, having started out with a £150 bike and upgraded (forks and wheels first, they just didn't last), until I'd ended up with an Identiti frame, Rock Shox Tora forks, Avid Juicy 3 brakes, 27 Shimano gears etc etc (you get the idea - a decent spec go-anywhere hardtail).

So, having been happy with my bike for over a year (no modifications apart from trying new tyres), it went missing. I've given it two weeks so far, and still not heard anything, despite talking to the police and putting up posters offering a reward.

I've started looking into new bikes, and the Mongoose Salvo Comp is available to me at 10% discount (so £720), from a local bike shop.
http://www.paulscycles.co.uk/products.p ... 1b0s1p3418 some info and stuff there. It happens to weigh about the same as my old bike.
So, having come from a hard-tail bike, I'd like to try a full sus bike, though the idea of being able to lock the rear shock is an attractive one, for those uphill struggles.
The sort of riding I do varies from woodland single track to blasting the black runs at Gisburn Forest - though the latter doesn't happen really often, I'd like to be able to really go for it with no worries of the bike falling apart.

Has anyone tried the Mongoose? Any others you'd suggest?

Thanks in advance,
Chris
