Hi all. Time to service my Teocali comp. I have noticed that the frame has a bit of wobble on the bearing (see pics) so I want to change those. Also my rear mech is bent so will need to change that as well and also might have to change what the rear mech connects to the frame with sorry dont know what this is called (also see pic). Any ideas what those bearings are called and what the rear mech connects to the frame bit is called so I can order them and fit.
Thank you very much

The slither of metal that attaches the mech to the frame is called a mech hanger. They are designed to bend on impact to save the frame.
If you are having a problem with catching your mech, which it sounds like you are, make sure you replace the mech with a 'shadow' design. These mechs do not hang outside of the frame's profile and so are far less likely to impact obstacles.
The pictures do not indicate which set of bearings you need to replace, but either way it's probably a job for a bike shop as getting bearings out of a frame can be hard.0 -
Hi thanks for the reply.
I think its called the pivot bearing.
Could you give me some details or links where I can get the Mech hanger and also the Mech that you recommended. Also would it work with the cyrrent gear set up that I have?
Thank you very much0 -
The trouble with the Teocali is the suspension design has a number of pivot locations. I assume you mean the main pivot assembly - Take it to a good local bike shop (not Halfords) for the pivots to be replaced though it might just be a simple job of tightening them up.
You have two choices with rear mechs, Shimano or Sram. They are not entierly compatible though. Looking at this Teocali Comp, the web says it is fitted with Sram shifters so you will need a Sram rear mech, yours is probably the X5 which I have linked to. If you wanted to upgrade, the next one up is the X7.
This Sram mech, (and after having a quick look even the more expensive models) doesn't follow the low profile design que of Shimano's Shadow range which I think is excellent. If you were concerned about busting up another mech you should look at the Shimano Deore Shadow, or the next one up; SLX.
Where it begins to get confusing is that some SRAM kit is compatible with Shimano - but I can't know if you have a shimano compatible shifter. I'm assuming not. So you'd need a shimano shifter too.
Lastly, You have a 9speed cassette, so don't accidentally order one of the brand new 10speed mechs0 -
Thank you very much for the very informative information. The pivot bearing I have just seen now is snapped  and I've been using this on the Quantocks   is the bearing just up from the Crank. As for the rear Mech, as I am just getting in XC and a bit of DH I will just do a like for like replacemeant and then at a later stage start adding better and much lighter components.
Once again thank you very much for your help.
Right off to find that Mech hanger and pivot bearing. Anybody have a SRAM X5 forsale0
