Been putting it off for a while because of that 1st drop but having done it I was surprised how easy it was, the rest was fantastic, table top after table top, great rock garden section. Well done oneplanet

The black now splits, you go straight on at the rock garden for the new section or around the switch back berm to the left for the old.
  • yeah, it is class, so fast, does anyone know if you can cycle / push up a short cut to get back to the top and session it a bit?

Yes you can easily up fireroad, then you can either do it again or do the old black as well

did it for the first time on a night ride - the rock garden was a bit of a suprise. Doubt I could go over it that fast again :)
  • Cheers Iain, is that left or right at the bottom of the trail?

i cant find an updated map onthe web but get one from the cafe, shows the fireroads as well.

its a good addition, the rock pavement bit feels a bit out of place but good fun. CL got alot going for it IMO, theres good natural riding in the surrounding area as well, although its difficult to loop back to the car park.

It is possible to miss it. It split off the first Black descent (Big Jims). The very first berm (Left hander round a tree) rather than following it round go straight on, theres a small (10yrds) rocky section that brings you to an intimidating drop, it then flows parallel to big jims. (see blue arrow)

split off starts at 41 sec here

Very glad to hear you can go back and session it, definately worth a go!!

I'm hoping to get a trip out next week as i think 2 1/2 weeks is enough for broken finger and i'm pretty sure the sticthes will have healed so it's game on in my eye :D
What if your dreams and fears existed in the same place? What if to get to heaven, you had to brave hell? What if everything you've ever wanted cost you everything you've ever achieved? Would you still go there?

Don't let the first drop put you off, you can roll it, it's awkward to jump as there's an uneven take off and steep landing.... Well it's awkward for me anyway lol.

The drop at the start is there for a reason, if you cant do it you should do the other track. (not being funny, thats just the idea cehind the drop) If you cant do the drop theres a reasonable chance you would end up holding up all the riders that can do the drop.

I went last sunday, second time (for parallel universe) and its still great, saw a group on DH bikes just doing that section, so must be pretty good. Id prefer to do it on a full sus xc bike every time though! (or the 4x bike)
