Just bought a new bike. Belonged to the exboyfriend of a friend. When they split he left the bike. And I've just bought it. Don't really know much about the brand or the model, just it's a halfords special. Carrera vengeance ltd, in as new condition and cost me £50.
Bargain??? Are they any good? Is this the model that was replaced by the fury?
Cheers
Matt.

For £50 you cant complain!
Carrera are....ok. pretty much what youd expect from a car parts shop but at that price as long as its gots wheels, pedals, a saddle and something to connect them all together then youre on a winner0 -
Well I'm gonna use it to get to work and the gym. Even has hydraulic disc brakes and a rock shox fork. Intend on taking it up the chase as well, gonna be funny passing riders on £3k+ bikes lol.0

yeah they're pretty decent bikes, especially for £50! enjoy it0

Yes they were very good value when halfords were selling them for £300-£400, as quite an upgrade of equipment on the basic vengeance, for £50 its the bargain of the year.Bianchi Infinito CV
Bianchi Via Nirone 7 Ultegra
Brompton S Type

Seems ok, definately needs setting up properly. Gears not indexing, brakes binding, and headset very tight, almost as if the top cap has been tightened right up before stem secured. All simple stuff to sort. Just taken the tags off of the wheels and cables.0

£50 is an insanely good price. Will compete with £500 - £600 bikes from 'named' brands any day of the week.Cool, retro and sometimes downright rude MTB and cycling themed T shirts. Just MTFU.

Possibly not anymore. Went to the gym tonight, locked the bike up, and some thieving scally has had it away.
Luckily there was two of them, and one of the members caught the other and restrained him until the police turned up. Hopefully the little prick will sqeal. Just seeing the little shit in the back of the police car with his "don't give a fuck" attitude made me want to beat him senseless. Scum of society.0 -
Horrible little *******
Best of luck on getting the bike back. I'd hope the one caught will get a sentance but the justice these days is past a joke0 -

Don't have insurance. Police just took my statement. They can't tell me much, as could ruin chances of a conviction, but looks like the lad they have is a wrong 'un and makes a habit of being in trouble. Which mean the police know who he knocks about with.
Attitude of the police so far has been excellent, so bigs thumbs up to Stafford police. Now just hurry up and get me my bike back lol,0 -
Shame to hear about the bike being nicked, but looks like there is a chance you can get it back!0
-
Fingers crossed.
Unfortunately, the scallies no the police can't make them talk, and convictions only male them look cooler in the eyes of their chav mates.
So glad my taxes pay for this scum to have a roof over their head and weed in their lonsdale trackies.0 -
Looks as though he is gonna get away with it as well.
The story is he was just playing good Samaritan and helping out a member of the public who had lost the key to his bike lock. So he walked a mile to his house to get some industrial bolt croppers.
Funniest bit is, that if he doesn't get charged, he gets his bolt croppers back!!!
Even though he is well known to the police for theft and burglary.
I'm not the sort of person to take matters into my own hands, but sometimes I wish I was.0 -

UNBELIEVABLE.... except that it's not, sadly. WTF are these coppers on if they believe this crap. It's just the sort of low-level aggro that they can't be bothered with IMO.
Gutted for you.Cool, retro and sometimes downright rude MTB and cycling themed T shirts. Just MTFU.

Having spoken with a couple of other officers last night, they were saying he could be prosecuted by the CPS as he has previous and his story is obviously bollocks. There was a bmx bike recovered, which they believe the two lads had earlier in the evening, but they dumped it and ran off when they spotted a couple of pcso's. That is meant to be getting fingerprinted.
Think the police aren't really interested, and would rather be getting back to their patrol cars and nicking easy targets, such as drunks and street yobs. I know it's only a bike, but if he's nicking a lot of bikes and has quite a record, isn't it worth the time in investigating and putting the little shit behind bars.
It's made me so angry that it's affecting my sleep. Wound up that after being caught red handed, he's gonna get away with it.0
