SRAM GXP BB Play
I have tried and tried and tried to remove the play. I have taken the cranks on and off half a dozen times, put loads of gease on. Got a mate who is built like a brick s**t house to tighten it up, still no joy. Is it OK to ride with a small amount of play in the cranks ? It doesn't make any noise and it smooth.
The shimano external BB had no play whatsoever !!

By play I presume you mean side-to-side? Check that the BB shell width is to specification - it might be too short and you'll need to fit a suitable spacer.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

makes no difference on a GXP. (crank is held horizontally by clamping on the Non drive bearing).
worn bearing or bearings need replacing with grease. Or the bolt is lose."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

The BB and cranks are brand new. You dont need a spacer for Road English BB (68). As I said thr Shimano ones are OK, these SRAM BB's seem to be rubbish - or very hard to fit.0

is this the old design sram gxp or the new bb with the gutterseal technology?

I have replaced the GXP team cups with APEX cups and all is sorted. Looks like the GXP team cups are not compatable.0
