Avid piston centre snapped off - advice please

I've just removed the pads from my avid juicy 5 rear brake as the pads were corroded and very worn. It looks like I've not pushed the pistons far enough apart before yanking the pads out with pliers and I've snapped off the small silver locating pin in the middle of the pistons d'oh!!!
I've fitted new pads and been out to check the security of the pads, worried they may fall out but they seem fine, even over VERY rocky ground.
The problem is I'm supposed to be heading to Glentress next weekend and don't know if they will be ok or am I better off sourcing some new pistons and trying to fit them before we go??? I'm a bit concerned about dismantling the caliper to change them and making matters worse especially as we head off fri morning
Anyone done similar and had them fall out?

get a new piston/calliper/brake."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I've just ordered a new piston and seal set online, just hope I can get the old ones out and sorted before Friday.0
