Hi, quick question for any Scottish people on here.. Am going up to Edinburgh tomorrow & thinking of cycling down to Dunbar way (Stenton) - what route would be best do you think - A1 don't look tooo tempting to me!

  • For me it would be the following:

    1) Head to Musselburgh, pick up the coast road ( B1348 )
    2) Go as far as Longniddry, turn right up Lyar's Road (A198)
    3) Turn left at the Roundabout onto the (B1377) - The Filling Station near this roundabout does a great bacon Sandwich.
    4) Turn Right at Drem Station, this is still the B1377
    5) Right on the B1347, then left onto the B1377 again.
    6) At East Linton, I'd nip under the A1 and head up the hill to Stenton.

    Hope this helps.
  • For Clarity, here's the route on a map. I hope. It's a relatively quiet traffic route, though you'll be on a few quick roads in places. Starting point is in Portobello.

I've avoided all but the final hill, there are more interesting/hilly options if you want. I also made it as short and simple as reasonably possible, again, that can be changed.
  • Thats great cheers mate!
