I am the happy owner of a wilier izoard xp veloce. After reading numerous reviews on the izoard they all share one in common and that is the tyres are a big let down. Anybody out there got any suggestions on a lightweight tyre to do justice to this awesome bike.
Also does anybody ride a wilier any comments good or bad would be appreciated.
cheers guys

  • I've got Continental GP4000S on mine, only tyre I have ran on the Izoard despite trying different tyres on other bikes so no direct comparisons to make as they have been on mine from new as it was built up from a frameset just the way I wanted from purchase.

Much prefer the feel and grip to the Krylions on my other bike, so pretty happy with them, though I do have an itch to try Michelin Pro Race 3's when they do need replacing.
  • Thanx for your speedy reply Rich. I will check out both sets.
    thanx again
Got bonty lights on my specialized and they seem to ride pretty good.

I'd go for the ultremo ZX, I've been massively impressed with mine. A big improvement over the old r.1

Thanx for input.Just checked them out they sound a top spec tyre if a little on the pricey side, but guess you get what pay for. Will carry on researching but they come up trumps at the moment.
    thanx.

I have an Izoard and I'm running Vittoria Rubino Pro III's. Lampre use Vittoria so I 'had' to get 'em. Then again, if someone told me to jump off a cliff...

cheers for that. you sound a lot like me if its good enough for the lampre team.
Whats your opinion on the wilier. Really wanted the centaur groupset but budget wouldn't allow it. pick it up from Evans tonight.

IMO it's a great bike and I'm more than happy with it - and you will be too :D Got the Veloce gruppo but with the red/black/white colour sceheme. The only things I've changed are the wheels - it's now wearing Fulcrum 3's - and the tyres have been upgraded to the Rubino III's.

Veloflex Pave. Fabulous riding open tubulars with gumwall sidewalls. Only a maximum of 22c but you wouldn't think it. Will look class in black.

Is that the current very light R1 or a previous R1?

    GP4000S.

Great grip, amazing lack of roll resistance and puncture proof reinforcement under the contact section.
