This may seem like a really stupid question, but all of the information I have looked at on the internet seems to confuse me even more.
I have bought a set of Fox Float 32 RL forks with a 1.5 inch steerer. I am wanting to buy a Ragley Mmbop which has a 1.5 inch Headtube, and here comes the stupid question. Obviously a 1.5 inch steerer will fit into a 1.5 headtube, but once you fit the Headset to the Headtube, will this not reduce the diameter of the Headtube, thus preventing a 1.5 inch steerer to fit into the Headtube?
Please help.
I am hoping to buy the parts to get my local bike shop to build a bike for me, but I just dont want to buy the wrong parts.
Thanks in advance.
Mick

It is a headtube to fit a 1.5 fork - the actual diameter of the headtube is far more, 56mm from memory.
So just get the headset that fits the frame for a 1.5 steerer and all will be fine. You will need a 1.5 stem though.
Beware of tapered steerers though - these use a 1.125 upper cup.0 -
Thanks very much for the advice.
Does anyone know what headset I can get for this? I have looked on the web, is it me or are the Headset's for a 1.5 steerer much more expensive?0 -
Thanks for your reply.
I have seen these for up to £150 and I dont want to pay that much for them, happy to pay in the region of £60.
