Avid Matchmaker issues anyone ?

On my brand new bike the Avid Matchmaker on the right hand side have sheared off twice under normal use.
Has anyone else had this issue ?
Also can I change to a normal clamp for the x9 shifter as I am fed up with shelling out £30 a pop for a left and right one ?

    where is it failing? never had any issues in 4 years of use on 2 bikes.

    yes you can get normal backs for the rakes and the clamp on bracket for the shifter.

    But i would be looking at what you are doing to cause the failure.
