What's the correct way to toe-in brake pads?

Recently my bike has developed a terrible squeal when braking (no longer need an airzound!) and apparently the way to stop this is by toeing-in the brake pads. I've read a number of online guides on how to do this and they seem to be giving conflicting advice, sometimes within the same article! Some say to angle the leading edge of the brake pad in towards the rim... so for a brake pad the leading edge is actually towards the rear of the bike because the top of the wheel will be moving from back to front. But then other articles say to angle in the edge of the pad towards the front of the bike which surely is the trailing edge?
So what's the correct method of toeing-in: angle in the side of the pad towards the front of the bike or the rear of the bike? Does it really matter?

Thanks for the info. The part of the pad towards the front of the bike is what I would consider the trailing edge because of the way the wheel rotates but some people seem to think otherwise, hence the confusion.Bianchi Via Nirone Veloce/Centaur 20100
