Distribution of riders across the BC categories

I’ve always wondered how many or what percentage of riders are registered to race in each BC category (E/1/2/3/4).

I’d always assumed there would be far more 3rds than any other, but I might be wrong - does anyone know?

– question is purely out of curiosity, just interested in numbers

    Probably more 4th cats than anything, a lot of people take out a licence but rarely race and there are plenty of others who won't ever get a top 10 finish.

    A couple of years ago I remember reading the distribution was something like 50% 4th cats, 35% 3rd, 10% 2nd and the rest E1s
    it's a hard life if you don't weaken.
