Danny Pate
I imagined a phone call between JV and Cuddly Bob late last year along the lines of - "please help me out, Bob. I've got to absorb all these Cervelo riders, and I just don't have space for Danny. Could you take him?"
I felt so sorry for him at the time, assumed he had been the one left standing at the end of the Garmin-Cervelo musical chairs, and relieved when it was announced he'd signed for Cuddly Bob. I think there was even a thread here to that effect.
But reading this month's CS, I find out that Danny Pate decided to leave Garmin beforehand, and JV was only informed of his departure from his agent.

Danny Pate said that 'something changed' mid-season but hasnt said what this was, maybe it was related to the management knowing a long way out that they might have to shed some riders, maybe not.

Well, if management quietly kept the riders in the loop regarding their future on the team, then that's a sign of responsible leadership with at least have some interest in people's careers. Too many companies nowadays keep their employees in the dark almost to the eve of washing their hands of them.0
