Shifter Quality opinions

I`m looking at getting a Wilier Xenon, but looking at the specs http://www.wilierbikes.co.uk/2011/details.php?ModNo=11IZXEN it has Xenon 10 speed Shift Levers, not sure of the quality of these, looking at the forums it seems the Xenon is or was the lowest level of shifter, my previous bike had soras on and i was hoping to get away from the thumb shifter clunkyness. Are these much better or much of the same?
After splashing out on the bike i wouldnt be able to get some upgrade shifters past the keeper of the cash, so if these are a little poor i would have to try another bike. Opinions?
A feather is kinky, a whole chicken is just perverse.

IMHO Xenon is junk and I wouldn't go near it. If you can only afford a budget groupset go for Shimano.

I had a Xenon equipped bike until 2 years ago and the shifters weren't junk. The bike served me well for about 3 years and was very reliable. I've never had a Shimano equipped bike to compare with but I wouldn't immediately write off the Xenon.
