Hello,

I have a Giant Anthem 2011 which had a Shimano Integrated Press Fit Bottom Bracket (apparently)- what tools do I need to service this? I just want to remove/clean/lubricate .

Many thanks if you can help

Would probably reccomend going to your LBS unless you want to spend some money!

Think you need the following for the pressft BB's

might be able to do without the headset press if you can think of an alternative bodge way of doing so. Are you sure this service needs done already on a 2011 bike?

Not much you can service, as the bearings are sealed. If trashed replace BB, if not leave it.
    I think.

Yes I am surprised too as I've only had it a few months, its and X1. There is creak on every rotation ofd the crank, definitely BB - probably just needs lubricating ?

If I were you I would bring it back and let the shop have a look.

It should be under warranty still. When did you buy it, did they offer a free service/check? Most shops do after 6 to 12 weeks or so.

Yeh but the shop is 100 miles away. The local Giant dealers won't get involved in warranty work on it . Imagine that happening with cars! your warranty is valid at any same brand dealer. Frankly both the Gaint dealers I spoke to attitude sucked, it would cost them just a little bit of time to look at it/sort it under warranty and they would have a customer for life who spends shed loads of money each year on bikes, parts, servicing, clothing - £6k last year alone - but now I'll just stick to the one I always use and the local Giant tossers can forget it.

I'll take it to my lbs. cheers

Are you sure it's the bb creaking?
Plenty of other things make noises and it's very hard to track them down.
All your LBS can really do is replace the bb, and I'd be very suprised if the bb has gone on a new bike.

Agreed, could be any number of things creaking but starting with the BB is a common place to start.

Make sure your looking after it properly, good clean after each ride, some maintenence spray and keep things lubed up!.
