Ok, so I have a raceface evolve DH crankset on my on one frame with a 68mm BB shell, so I have the standard BB with it. Now, I want to buy a downhill frame, the one I have my eye on has an 83mm BB shell. From what I seem to be able to gather, the crankset is just standard, and I just need to buy an 83mm BB? I thought I would need new cranks that have a longer axle, but I guess the 83mm BB is just thinner than a 68/73mm one, hence the axle on the cranks staying the same length? Am I correct or way off the mark?

external bearings? (there is no such thing as a standard BB just lots of standards)

if the external bearing type new cranks needed.

Second hand.... there isn't really a wide variety unfortunately. loads on pinkbike though.

May need a new BB too, I think the internal protecting sleeve bit will be too short!

What frame is it BTW? will your rear wheel fit?

Deffo need new cranks fella. The BB's are the same though, just with a longer sleeve.

Pinkbike or Ebay should turn up a set of 83mm Saints fairly cheap. They always do when you want a 73/68 anyway!
