putting 10 speed on a 9 speed chainset

Aye up all,
It's that time of the year again, winter seems to have shagged my transmission. So, with Deore going to 10 speed I thought I might upgrade to a 2x10 + bash.
The question is, can I put 10speed chain rings on my 9speed XT chainset (which I'd rather not have to replace)?
