    Definitely bib. I find that riding with shorts for more than an hour or so starts to make my waist feel very cramped which, combined with my jersey inevitably riding up, makes bibs the only answer for me. I have a very good VFM pair from Altura but the dhb ones get a lot of mentions and are even cheaper!

    I was a firm "normal shorts" man but since trying some dhb bibs I'm converted. Just so much better at staying in position and keeping your back covered.

    If it's really warm then normal shorts for me - much cooler

    Definitely Bib's, much more comfy, stay in position, and look the bizz, ordinary shorts as previous post says tend to dig into your mid rift - not very nice when climbing.
    FWIW i would spend a bit more than the £50 you mention for a decent well fitting, well padded pair, lasts longer so should save you having to buy again later, your choice.

    No bib = women.
    Bib = men.
  • If you're a bloke then bibs are best to prevent the risk of a Mr Belvedere - bibs keep everything in place.

    At your price point, I find the Altura Pro Gel are good for extra shock absorption or some DHBs which I find offer good compression.

    Bib bib bib ! If the pros can cope through 6 hourhot races in them - then they'll be just fine for our summers !

    Bib, no question.
  • Bib all the way, as previously noted - keeps your bits in place, no waistband to cut into your midrift and from my experience they tend to slip down as you get in the drops and can you spend your time trying to cover your builders bum!

    I have a few pairs of Bontrager shorts and find them great for anything under 80miles, these radioshack team bid are a steal at £35
