Please can someone advise me....My friend is new to road cycling & I have taken him out few times for rides but he still insists on doing spinning class a few hours after.Should he be taking a bit easier and building up the miles in his legs?

Depends on how fit he is, if he is able to do the spin sessions and recover properly then there shouldn't be any worries.
He might be new to road riding, but has he been doing spinning for a long time? or any other form of cycling.0 -
Sounds like he's building his fitness the right way, heart and lungs first0

If he's now able to keep up with your road sessions, then I would guess it's a not an issue.
CV fitness from other sports will all aid to fitness on the bike, so it depends on his general fitness to whether this is a problem or not.Simon0 -
if your body isnt falling apart and loosing strength you're not over training.0

I agree with Rake. Train as hard as you can, back off only to store reserves before an event.Boardman Elite SLR 9.2S

Well perhaps it isn't surprising that hills slow him down, any extra weight will slow riders down. Maybe he finds the 15 mph easy, so over the entire ride he feels well within his capabilities.
By going to spinning classes perhaps he is hoping to help get his weight down.
Basically it comes down to how many hours he spends exercising hard, and how much recovery he has. No 2 people are the same, but I would guess he is doing exercise at a general keep fit level, and thus it is doubtful he will be over training.0
