Sherwood pines
Went sherwood pines today first time since last year, have to say they have done a lot of trail improvements since i last went i really enjoyed it.
Unfortunatly i came across a chap who had fell off and possibly broke his leg, i went and got the ranger for him and waited up the trail slowing the traffic till the paramedics were on the scene, by that time i was cold and needed to set off home before dark.
Hope they got him out ok as they had to park the ambulance a fair way off and couldnt wheel the stretcher in.
What suprised me was the ranger said they get 2-3 incidents a day at the weekend and the record is four broken collar bones in one day, really makes you think.

Glad you had a decent ride Sherwood Pines is my local trail centre, and as much as I'd like to drive up to Cannock, I usually don't have the time. So it's really nice to see the trails being upgraded and sections prone to the sort of sludge that Sherwood Pines is famous for are now getting some proper hard pack - a nice weather proofing feature just in time for summer.
I'm really surprised by the amount of incidents that ranger said they have to deal with. It does make you stop and think, since it's a rather mild trail even at the worst of times.
Anyway, I've just been down there today to do the red and blue route (cycled there from newark and backk too  ) and the milder weather has really helped make the place enjoyable again after those dark winter months of uber uber sludge :roll:0 -
Thats a long way you must be pretty fit mate, i come from kirkby in ashfield its about 9miles to the pines however i usually take the long route home, normaly do about 35miles including the red route.
Havn't been to cannock or dalby forest yet but on my to do list for this year.
Must say though they have improved the red route at the pines no end since it was first opened.
