New frame time soon
Do I....
MMMBop
or
Attack trail
very different bikes I know... but both are justified options...
the mmmbop: I like HT's, alot, it's good for a bit of everything, and is better for long XC style rides. Will be good for the end of season XC race...
The Marin: It's better for my day to day riding ( lots of mini, non technical DH's in the local woods, and hardcore-ish AM, but fairly few miles.) It'll alow me to do more Dh type stuff, and I can justify buying a FF helmet. It's good for my planned trip to Scotland and maybe the Alps. It's not too bad for the XC/Trail center type stuff I like to ride, and I need to work on my fitness anyway..... I can pump up the shock hard and drop the seat and pretend I'm a pro slopestyle rider pulling big-ass moto whips (tiny little wobbles in reality) on the local step down. It's orange
I'll still have a HT... my spare, and a trials bike.
The question is... do I go for it?!?!
forget cost for now...although the Marin will be more...

Id not say the Mmmbop was really an all-dayer sort of frame. I did a good few 5-6hr rides on mine, but it wasn't the most comfortable I've ever been on a bike. Remember, it's a very stiff, very unforgiving frame.
Sounds to me like you might be better with something like the Marin, but just a bit lighter. (not that I have anything against the Marin, having ridden a couple of the Attack Trails they are great bikes).0 -

ATTACK TRAIL!
Awesome machine, that's up for anything.
Try it first though. I (And sheepsteeth) met a guy in Llandegla who disliked his for the same reason I like mine (well, mine's a wolfridge with 160mm forks, basically the same thing), the compact cockpit, which lets you move your weight around.0 -
i wouldnt get a full sus bike, ht bikes are more fun and fs bikes are unnecessary0
-
plus Fs is abit gay, where as Hts are real mans bikes
which is odd, cause ive got a Ht
ahwell. Ragley would be a chuckle0 -

mine will have 140mm forks anyway... gonna get a 2008 frame and pop my thor's on the front...
Yeah... I do kinda like the idea of the Attack trail... I'm just slightly hesitant as It's gonna take me forever to afford it, and I want to like it....I like bikes and stuff0 -
If you're sticking 140mm forks on it, see if you can get a wolf ridge instead. They're practically identical.0

why do ya say that? is the geo different? I was originaly looking at Wolf Ridges... but iv come across a pretty good deal on an Attack Trail frame. It's the 08 one... which came with a pike anyways... so I would have thought it would be perfect with s 140 mm fork?I like bikes and stuff0 -
Well, when I got mine, the wolf ridge had 140mm forks, and the attack trail had 160mm forks, with a corresponding difference in head angle.
The only difference in the frames themselves was that the attack trail had a tapered head tube, whereas the wolf ridge had a standard 9/8" and that the attack trail had ISCG mounts.
What I meant was that if you aren't going to stick massive forks on it, and could get by with a non tapered headtube, you might be able to get the wolf ridge frame a little cheaper.0 -

In that case, I think it's exactly the same as the wolf ridge, but they came with different groupsets etc.0

Awesomes!
I'm not fussed by either... but the owner of one of my LBS's is looking to sell his Attack trail (08) frame soon.... and I think I can probably get a decent deal....
It's bright orange too, which is cool...I like bikes and stuff0 -
Bright orange is cool
There was a violently luminous green one too, which looks amazing in the flesh, but I can;t remember what yer that one's from.0
