Hi ladies,

I have recently purchased some lovely Gore 3/4 tights, but they are a bit see through! They're a bit on the big side too. I should probably wear something underneath - I seem to recall seeing some seamless pants somewhere on wiggle or somesuch website, but I'm knackered if I can find them again.

Any recommendations?

I'm pretty sure those 3/4 tights will be alright without pants underneath. Post a picture with them on though and we'll let you know

Do they have padding? If not you could get a pair of padded shorts to wear underneath.
  • decathlon seamless pants are comfy...and only a fiver, much cheaper than HH or patagonia or icebreaker...though icebreakers are good too

The Gores are padded, so I'm looking for unpadded and seamless.

Only saw padded on the Decathlon website earlier, but I'll have another look.

    This thread just got mileage

or even more than it already did
  • Can you not get a pair of non padded proper shorts to put on over the top - then you still get the benefit of the padding of your 3/4 lengths

If your a commuter Id get some snug fitting shorts to go over the top. Surface do great ones but only do mens.

As you can tell from this thread, the other commuters get a bit excited by a lady in lycra

If it's modesty then as others get some shorts over the top, if nothing else handy for money and phone etc. rather than having them deep in bags.

I used to train regularly with an old roadie friend who was getting back into cycling, he was using his old kit as it was 'once upon a time' high quality, however...
Frequent washing had removed the 'flock' from his longs making them semi transparent and you could discern his bum-crack from behind. After a particularly hard run, i'd had to sit on the wheel for most of the way back, I spotted this. After I mentioned it the accused longs were relagated to bike washing rags.
Also seen a fat-boy wannabee roadie in old Assos shorts that showed too much, I think there could be a problem with expensive kit, you shell out so much for it you're loathe to replace it and I guess you never see yourself from behind.
It's not nice for traffic and especially not nice for anyone drafting.

The answer is obvious - paint your bum the same colour as your shorts.

Followed Nifer through Brizzle earlier this week for a short time and the tights fit well, alas no camera footage for DDd.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
