Repairable or not?
Out for a ride this morning and went to pull away from the traffic lights - chain snapped and back wheel locked up. On inspection the rear derailleur had sheared off the frame. I am guessing the answer is no but is this repairable?

ew.... that doesn't look good.
I think it might be time for a new frame. What is the frame material? Aluminium?0 -
New frame time I'm afraid0

Accidents are not covered under warranty.
Most likely cause of this is your chain getting caught in the rear mech when the pin came out. The torque will pull the mech into the wheel unfortunately for you the force of this was violent enough to break the frame.Racing is life - everything else is just waiting0 -

FWIW warranties only cover you for defective materials and manufacture - your failure comes firmly under 'wear and tear'. The frame is made from a heat-treated alloy which makes a weld-repair problematic too, particularly given the little amount of metal you've got to join togetherMake mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

maybe if you welded it back you could weld a flat piece over the top for strength the same shape as the cutout. or maybe make an aluminium hanger that fits the recess and weld it in place over the join. i dont think the heat would cause too much trouble there, maybe put a wet towel around the stays and tig weld.0
