Renthal Chainring fitting

Evening all
My Renthal chainring has arrived and ive fitted to my SLX chainset. One side of the chainring has a recessed area around the bolt hole. I wasnt sure whether to fit the chainring as if it was the outer or middle ring i.e. in front of or behind the spider.
Having checked the review on BR, the testers fitted it as the middle ring, but from the photo appear to have fitted it with the recessed part of the hole facing the crank, whereas i have fitted it facing away so that the female part of the chainring bolt sits within the recess.
Given that the chainring is designed as single speed, surely this makes little diff ?
Bit para given the price of the chainring. Any thoughts ?
Cheers

it does not matter.
fit as you want to."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
