get yourself up to Hollingworth lake or Newhey/Shaw. There's loads of PBW that links up and you can ride up there on the rochdale canal and easy spend a good few hours riding. Also get yourself an OS map of the area ( OL21 i think) and that will show you all the permitted riding in the area.

Several people have told me that there is plenty of good riding around Todmorden and Hebden Bridge, but I'm South Manchester based so not ventured that far up myself. I'm sure the bridleways around there would be a good start though..

Yep, Tod is a decent place as it sits in a valley so there are big rides on either side of you.

Hebden bridge is good too, lots of ways out and loads f bike friendly pubs/ cafes on the way back. Watch out for the hippies though, and parking is a pain. Best ditch the car 1/2 a mile out of the centre.

You can get to Tod from littleborough via blackstone edge towards Stoodley pike, drop down and back but thats 20 miles in itself...

  • 1. from newhey go up through ogden reservoir and over the motorway.

    2. over to the whitehouse then over the top of blackstone edge.

    3. back over the M62 over to the communication pylon.

    4. from there down the massive downhill trail back down to ogden res

    5. back into newhey (13.5 mile)

Google Mary Townley loop. 45 mile loop on mostly bridleway not technical but nice scenery and if you manage to do it all in one you will know you have had a ride.
