Mountain Bike - 2004 Specialized Hardrock Pro Disc

Hi all,
I haven't been on a bike in 10 years but recently been thinking about getting a mountain bike to get to work and take off road. I'm about 6ft and consider myself quite healthy.
We may have the cycle to work scheme up and running next month so I might joint that as it seems to give you a discount. iI this is the case limit is £500 to 600 for the bike. looking at a rockhopper?
If not my mate has a 2004 specialized hardrock pro disc which he has said he will sell for £150. Its only been used a few times (apparently!).
Questions:
What bike should I get for the cycle to work scheme?
is £ :oops: 150 a good deal for the 2004 specilazed bike?
Any help would be great.

The Hardrock Pro from that era was very heavy and had an awful fork - the Rockhopper is a much better bike for XC and general trail riding.0
