Im looking into creating a Fun area and wondered what people would want from such an area. So Far we are looking at Redhill Extreme as something to base it on.

So Far we have:

4X Track - National Standard
Singletrack inc berms and tables etc. (open) (intermadiate level)
Singletrack inc berms and tables, drops etc . (wooded) (Advanced Level)
Pump Track
Dirt Jump Area

We are also looking at a uplift service as the height loss is quite a bit.

The location is close to a DH area so no need to put DH runs in!

There will be food and a toilet, chill area, im talking rideable features. And nothing in life comes free!

Thanks for your input

instructors/marshalls to both give sage advice and guidance and also to prevent any tom foolery which will endanger others.

total ban on gf's and dogs.

work stands with shelter to fix bits n bobs

wash down points for the bikes with grille/mesh floor so its not a massive mud bath.

    +1 for both

Definitely not the age limit though, you want people to get into the sport, not scare them away.

    Is this in the midlands?

Definitely needs cafe, toilets, northshore, drop offs, table tops, large gaps (for nutters), wash area, bike shop, skinnies, beginner area

I like to see a beginners skills area so they can practice and get better and eventually ride the knarlier stuff you have. And of you could tie this in with qualified instructors giving (paid) tuition.

Depends how big the place is going to be, some sort of shop (or small shack) is nice for when you need some emergency brake pads or help fixing something.

A simple Cafe / burger van with a small selection of hot and cold food.

    A bike wash

    A ball pit.

Hang on, that doesn't sound right.

I think the skills area concept is weirdly overlooked, short technical challenging sessionable tracks (at all levels, you'd want a blue) getting the maximum use out of the space. When you think about your average 20-30km XC ride, how much of it is actually interesting?

If you want a model of a decent, compact skills area I reckon the one at Ben Nevis is pretty good.

Something like the 'intermediate' play area at Dalby would be cool too - mini 4X, a few jumps and some simple northshore for cutting your teeth on.

What do you guys think of the skills area at Llandegla, Its pretty, goodm drops lines going from easy to black (xc) run level. A little jumps area and some really good turny tracks! and a tiny rock garden!

I'll definitely look into this, im thinking graded drops like in whistler middle skills area?

To summarise all the above; North shore drop offs between poledancing girls with a ride through cafe and free pat sharp wigs.

Will your insurance cover all that?

Seriously, it's all well and good asking but wouldn't it be better starting at what your allowed to do and ask for suggestions within those paramaters? What will the insurance all you to build?

Sorry to go off topic slightly, but where abouts is this rob? Is it in the Dixon Hollow area?

Aye, it's not bad at all- though misgraded now compared to their other trails, the black one's about as hard as the nevis red which is daft. The one at Mabie is pretty nice as well, though bigger. Glentress one used to be good :(

So thats £20 for the wig, £10 Entry then £20 a ride (past the pole), i think thats a bit steep for who we are aiming at!

See list in first post for what we have already agreed, im just seeing if there was anything you thought we were missing. I think any wooden trail section will come in the future, but having a skills area sounds pretty good, similar to that of Landegla, but with Jumps in the dirt jump area. Dirt Jumps im thinking like the ones in Whistler town with Bigger lines to the left/right and smaller more beginner ones to the side.
