The Queens stage (?) of this year's Paris-Nice. Perhaps not as much climbing as in previous years, but Col de la Mure is a decent enough climb, 9 km before the finish.

Lieuwe Westra alone in front at the Croix de Chabouret

De Gendt dropped from the peloton on the same climb - seems he's no second Hoogerland after all ;)

earlier a minor crash with LL Sanchez, Casar and Gerrans

Liquigas team leader Peter Sagan has been dropped in La Croix de Chaubouret.

    LE MEVEL Christophe
    LOPEZ David
    WESTRA Lieuwe
    HARDY Romain
    DUPONT Hubert
    JEANNESSON Arnold

Are the riders in the lead, about 2.30. Le Mevel, Westra, Dupont and Jeannesson are all quite handy riders. Not sure about Hardy and Lopez.

Seems odd that such well placed riders as Le Mevel are allowed in the break, particularly as he's a reasonable climber.

The gap is not big, the presence of several riders up there means the bunch won't gift it much time.

Little under 5km to go : leading group now Lieuwe Westra (Vacansoleil), Hubert Dupont (AG2R), Arnold Jeannesson (FDJ), David Lopez Garcia (Movistar), Christophe Le Mevel (Garmin-Cervelo) and Romain Hardy (Bretagne-Schuller).

Wtf are you getting your info?

One kilometre before the top of the Col de Montreynaud (km 135), three men are in the lead: Dupond, Westra and Lopez Garcia.
20 seconds behind are Le Mevel, De Greef, Casar, Fedrigo, Jeanneson, Voigt, Kessiakoff, Garate, Svitsov, Kadri and Jerome Pineau.
    The peloton 40 seconds behind.

    Sagan? dropped.

Fun to look at and a bit of publicity, but what does it get them; a handful of seconds advantage for Casar on a steep 8 km climb?

You're almost certainly right but I love that they've given it a go and you never know. 32 seconds at the moment on the peloton.

So defensive. Paris Nice should be ridden with aggression.
