Am changing forks to one with a 1.5 steerer, so need a new headset..At the moment I have this:

I believe I have an internal headtube?

Are there any internal 1.5 headsets around? If not, would an external one fit?

Cheers

What's the frame you're fitting it to?

I'm not sure the Orbit 1.5R is an integrated h'set (although someone more knowledgeable may be along later...)

    Marin Quake (2007, 7.2)

Apparently there are no internal 1.5 headsets, just reducers - but there must be a way to fit a 1.5 fork, right?

And sorry, meant to write internal not intergrated.

You might be able to change to an external headset although this may change the geometry slightly as well.

I think, looking at it, that you need an external 1.5" headset. It will increase the stack height noticably, and slack off the head angle a touch although this may be balanced out by removing a spacer and a slightly smaller a-c height respectively.

Best thing is to accurately identify what type of headtube you currently have and then go from there. You can almost certainly get what you want, even if you have to order all the parts from cane creek via your lbs.

The original spec for the marin Quake featured an FSA Orbit DL headset, although annoyingly the current incarnation of this model is a reducer...

Have a look at the Cane Creek DoubleX, I've heard of people using this as a low-stack alternative.

As masterdooh said, it will slightly raise the front end due to the taller stack height.
It would also need a longer fork steerer tube compared to a low-stack version.

Thanks everyone, think I need to check how deep the headtube 'recess's' (?) are, and get an external one. Cheers again
