11/3: Any interest out there? I have 30 riders signed up but the more the merrier! Thanks M

All – please see below re: the event I have set up for the New Zealand earthquake – if you are able to assist in anyway: riding, sponsoring or helping out on the day it would be much appreciated.

Kind regards,

From London to Christchurch

The 22 February 2011 earthquake devastated the city of Christchurch in New Zealand. The official death toll is 166 and expected to exceed 200. To raise funds to support the earthquake victims we have set up a London to Christchurch (Christ Church, Oxford) bike ride. The date for the ride is Sunday 22 May which will be three months to the day since the earthquake.

We will commence the ride from the New Zealand Memorial at Hyde Park Corner and from there cycle approximately 60 miles to Christ Church, Oxford. Christchurch in New Zealand was named after Christ Church, Oxford and Christchurch Cathedral was founded by members of Christ Church, Oxford in the mid-19th Century (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christchurch). It seems particularly poignant that as Christchurch in New Zealand starts to rebuild that the bike ride ends where the city began over 150 years ago.

If you are interested in being involved with either riding, sponsoring, helping organise or providing support on the day then please contact Matthew Whitaker at mattheww_nz@yahoo.co.uk.

I have set an initial fund raising target of £20,000 which should provide some much needed assistance to those impacted.

If you know of anybody that may be interested please forward this to them.

Thank you for your time.

Kind regards,

Matthew Whitaker
