Peak District Rides

Hi All,
I'm fairly new to cycling and I have just entered my first sportive that takes place in September.
I live near Burton on Trent which although has some short sharp climbs, I am a little concerned about longer hills on the sportive. As a result I have been thinking about taking some trips into the peak district to get some longer climbs in.
Does anybody on here have any suggestions for rides in the peak district that will allow me to get some longer hills in? I'm looking to start at a distance of around 30 miles in the peak district and build from there.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Cheers

Plenty of longer climbs around Hathersage - Froggat is over 3 miles.
Also some good climbs around Matlock, Beeley is a good 2 miles of climbing
Further West there's Snake Pass and Cat and Fiddle of course.0 -
Long Hill is about 5 miles long.
Have a look at a map and you will find loadsIf you do what you have always done, you will get what you always got....0 -
Long Hill
Goyt Valley
Hathersage
Abney
Froggatt + Curbar (near Baslow and Calver)
Strines
Cromford
Monsal Head
Climbs out of Matlock
Snake-Pass - I'd avoid unless you choose a time when the traffic is okay
Winnats Pass + Mam Tor - This might take a few attempts before you complete it without walking.
Just get out there. Get a touring map and get yourself lost within the lanes. You'll find loads of stuff0 -
Have a play on bikehike.co.uk to map out some rides with elevation profiles and gradients.
The great thing about the Peak District is being able to link up a series of climbs as you build your route distance. Others have mentioned a number of decent climbs - another couple around Hathersage are the climb up to Abney and the gliding club, and the climb from the Yorkshire Bridge pub at Ladybower up over Hathersage to North Lees and then on to Ringinglow. I'd really recommend the climb from Edale up Mam Nick, I'd rate it as harder than Winnats because it is much longer. One word of advice, which worked for me - make sure you complete the climbs up Winnats and Mam Nick before you do the descents - they are so fast and steep on the way down that you'll have a mental image of them being unclimbable. Enjoy the scenery, it is fantastic!0 -
+1 for Mam Nick from Edale, and Abney from Hathersage.
Also Jaggers Lane/Coggers Lane out of Hathersage onto Bamford Moor.
Avoid Snake Pass, horrible road full of mad car drivers.
I also avoid Winnats, too steep to be enjoyable, plus plenty of cars.0
