Need to replace middle chainring on my Campagnolo Veloce chainset, not sure how many teeth or if it's a compact or not (will take photo tomorrow) but it's a triple.

The number of teeth is usually marked on the ring, if not put a felt tip(or similar) mark on one tooth then count round the ring. Rmember you are looking for an 'inner' chain ring it would be PCD (pitch circle diameter) of 110 and is probably one of these or similar.......

T.A. Nerius Campagnolo Compatible 10 Speed Chainring Inner 42T BLK.

Check how many cassette rings(cogs) you have on the back wheel if it is nine then substitute 10 speed for 9 speed....

Give it a google or have a word at your local bike shop.

Chainrings seem very expensive for what they are :-(

I don't run Campagnolo, but would definitely recommend the TA Specialties 'rings.

No discernable flex, very durable, but unfortunately not cheap either!

It will not be 110mm BCD. Campag use 135 for all but compacts. One of these should do you.

Any doubts measure from BB centre to chainring bolt centre. Should be 67.5mm.

The existing ring will have information on it?

I am a big fan of DIY but I think this is a case where you might benefit from popping to your LBS and getting their opinion. You seem to have a few issues from this and other posts (new chain, derailleur skipping, chainring worn?, cassette worn? Setup not right?, etc.) and are doing the decent thing of trying to sort them out yourself but it might be prudent to let someone have a look at the whole thing and see what they think.

Focussing on individual issues one at a time, you might be missing the bigger picture. Just a thought. If they confirm your list of specific issues then you can go home assured knowing that will at least be the end of it and work methodically through the list.

The derailler doesn't skip a gear, more like something is slipping. The derailler arm moves forward about 1cm, pedals slip about 1" circumference. Not sure what's going on, will try a new cassette/wheel I have in the shed.

I think the idea, posted above, of your taking your bike to your LBS and seeking their opinion is a very good one.

well ribble have 20% discount, and gonna need a couple eventually.... being that the old chain had considerable amount of stretch not worth knackering up chain/cassette. Haven't tried new cassette, but with all three reaplaced should be ok.

That cassette does not look so good. A full new start is probably a good idea in the long run. Matching worn and new, even if it works ok, does increase wear rates.

Is 2000 miles a bit low? It'll be higher than that as I know I did that in 6 months. I didn't do 4000 miles though, maybe 2500 max.

Picture. Old one ontop of the new one. Camera lens directly above the middle one. If you look closely at the right side, there is a bit of visible metal from the chainring behind.

Hopefully new new chain, chainring and cassette everything should be ok. Small and large rings don't get used as much so should be ok.

As others have pointed the size will be on each chain ring . If it's a triple then I reckon it will be 52/42/32.

Fitted it, and used copper grease on the chainring bolts. Is there any orientation of the chainring (put label side out) just the clockwise/anticlockwise rotation? I've lined up Campagnolo/Specialites writing. On the Specialites ring, it has a arrow on the edge. What does this mean?

Usually it lines up with the crank or a similar mark on the outer ring.

But is there any purpose for the arrow? I looked at the tip and it looks like the others. It's not like I have oval chainrings

Chainrings are designed to run as sets so the chain will flow easily from one to the other. That is it will connect with the teeth on the gaining ring before it leaves the losing one. Shimano made 2 big rings (A & B) to be used with 39 and 42 tooth inner ones. The arrow is to make sure the rings are aligned correctly. I would not worry too much about it when mixing makes as you will probably not notice the difference. I am running odd rings on a compact on my winter bike and it works fine.

Don't think the Specilites rings have groove on the teeth for more efficient chain deralling.

The matching of rings is more to do with how the teeth line up between the rings. I would have thought a TA ring would have some form of ramping to help changes though.

went for a ride, smooth as silk, although for some reason front derailler isn't shifting onto smallest ring. Weird, nothing to do with end stops. :? will lube up derailler spring and check.
