Help for London To Rome route

Hey guys, im cycling between london and rome for great ormond street childrens hospital and i am looking for advice on any routes people have taken.
please let me know if you have one, or know of any websites with routes, or books i can buy with routes.
and any possible suggestions of best time of year to tackle this.

Hi Tom,
You could try cycling up the Rhine into Switzerland and over the Splugen pass as I did in 2005 (details on my page below).
Or check out http://www.cyclingeurope.nl/rome, its in Dutch but very easy to follow the maps.
Or plan your own route using google maps. You could also try this program microsoft mappoint europe (google it) the good thing about this program is that you can use it offline (in case you're taking a notebook with).
