My rear derailleur is bent and needs replacing. About to order one from wiggle and there are two sizes, long cage and short cage. How do I tell which one I need. If its any help its for a 9 speed Spesh Allez sport.

Short cage unless you have changed the standard gearing

Is the gear hanger bent as well? Quite unusual to bend the mech and not the hanger (unless it's self-inflicted ham-fisted mechanic type damage)

Short cage if it's a double chainset. Long cage if it's a triple.

    And what keef66 said...

Errrrm..... yeah the hanger is bent as well. Could I get away with just replacing the hanger then? I originally thought it was the derailleur but after looking at again the hanger is definitely bent as well.
