dunno what others will say, but what about an Edinburgh cycles Revolution Continental Pro? Not a big fancy name, but a decent bike, especially as they are on sale at the mo for £599, down from £899. Shimano 105 for the most part, bloody good value I think.

I've got one as my first road bike, can't fault it. Sure its probably a tad heavier than some, but coming from a hard tail mtb its still a featherweight. You'd have money left over for kit, spds pedals and like.

    whatever fits YOU
Surely it's the nicest looking bike in the shop that fits. £800? All good at that price point. Buy whatever makes you go ooooh that's nice when you see it in the shop.

A good second hand bike with quality components that retailed in the region £1500-2000 when new.

I just got a 6 month old planet x with full ultegra for around £800. Secondhand is a great option.

    hello. I'm new.
