Mountain Biking in the Alps

Afternoon, I am looking into a biking holiday in the alps during the summer and there are obviously many choices available.

Just wodnering where people have gone and rating?

I'm ideally looking for somewhere for some good quality long travel bike downhill/trails

Any links to websites, what you paid, how did you get there etc would be great.

Ahh, So you did.

Have a look at this place, a friend of mine went last year. It has all the necessary things including lifts and a different choice of runs. I think most ski resorts will have a similar approach during the summer, catering for walkers and bikers.

As for getting there I've not looked at flights yet but I had planned on driving wirth a few mates. Its about 900 miles from the Northwest plus tunnel fair...I estimated to cost about £260 one way per car. So, the more people the cheaper. 14 hour drive though.

The guys at Bike Village are ace.

Lovely folk, lovely farmhouse, lovely food.

Its possibly a bit more All Mountain than you are looking for...? i.e. you do do a fair amount of pedalling up. We did use some of the lifts, and the slow group also used the van to miss out on some of the climbs. Descents were pretty much all singletrack from high passes (one day from the Italian border and another down into Switzerland (I think).

Highly recommended.

Come to Morzine - plenty of long DH trails here!
€495 gets you great food and accommodation for a week, and cheaper options for B&B.
