after my numerous threads about my back issue (which is down to my bike being the incorrect size) im in the beginning stages of bike shopping.
i dont think im ready to go for a road bike, all of that lycra and my belly, there would be public outrage
im thinking of a tricross, my dad has just ordered one an it looks sweet but i do a bit of mountain biking so if i get the tricross i would have to get another bike...
or do i get a mountain bike, have two wheel sets an swap em when i want to go an get muddy?
the mountain bike im looking at is Ghost SE 7000
but, the tricross will be faster on the roads.....oh i dont know

I thought the point of a CX bike was that you could go off road. Unless you Dad is doing some really gnarly stuff dude you should be able to go with the CX on proper CX tyres no?0 -
Yeah you'll be fine, when I started MTBing there was no suspension and we all managed just fine.0

get yourself a nice touring bike, you dont need to wear lycra then. In fact a touring bike is positively complemented by a wax barbour jacket, some breeches and a shotgun over your shoulder.
see yourself on this little beauty?

I wear lycra,
Just it's NEVER on view.FCN 5 belt driven fixie for city bits
CAADX 105 beastie for bumpy bits
Litespeed L3 for Strava bits
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.0 -
If you're set on a mountain bike as well go with a road bike not a crosser, otherwise you'd be surprised what a cx bike will cope with off road and it's fun and it infuriates everyone you meet! Baggies over lycra as others have said.- Genesis Equilibrium Athena
