I'm about to buy a Boardman comp 2010 (medium) from Halfords, price £559. Buying via my companies C2W scheme via a company cheque so fine dealing with any supplier.

Comparing the specifications the Boardman is better than the equivalent Allez, trek etc. i.e I can get Tiagra groupset, Ritchey finishing kit vis Sora and no name/specialized etc.

The Halfords branch I'm dealing with is small but the guy seems to know his stuff and be capable. Happy to drop by LBS after purchase to double check if needed.

Am I making a good decision ?

This would be my first road bike, and I don't want to spend a lot of money in todays uncertain world. The Boardman is £22 per month, whereas if I went for same spec Allez then I'd be looking at £37/£40 per month on a £1,000 bike.

Any reason not to choose the Boardman ?

Thanks

Both would be great bikes. If you want the Boardman, get it.

Indeed, I have decided on the boardman as it seems a good choice and better spec.

Just wanted to check that the Boardman was a good buy ?

at the knock down price the boardman is a no brainer. it was good at £650.

The Boardman comp road is a great bike I use mine every day it is very comfortable and fast to ride on the bad roads in the UK and Ireland, I prefer the ride of my Boardman comp over my Team carbon which is a very fast stiff bike if you ride/race on good road surfaces but I find its ride not so good on the bad roads, compared to the Boardman comp.

at £559 with 105/ Tiagra its a bargain.
