Gels for JOGLE

Never experimented much with gels - just tried the ones that 've been given
on various sportives over the last couple of years.
Checked out prices and they are crazy expensive - £1 a shot or more!
Anyone tried any 'homebrew' alternatives, maybe this sort of thing...

Why would you need gels for JOGLE? Is it a race? Just eat normal food. Homebrew seems a bit odd for JOGLE anyway since you'd need to carry them with you from the start.More problems but still living....0

As others have said other than carrying a few gels in case you end up a way from food and need a boost, there's not a really good reason to be eating gels on such long events,
But http://jibbering.com/sports/gels.html has many simple methods that actually create gels unlike your link above which creates a syrup - and an expensive one at that with honey and molasses being more expensive than gels often!Jibbering Sports Stuff: http://jibbering.com/sports/0 -
Don't bother, stick one in your bag in-case you get caught short and feel like bonking, apart from that just enjoying eating everything you can get your hand son.0
