GXP BB & SC Butcher frame

A mate has a Santa Cruz Butcher frame that he's building up, 73mm BB shell, SC say a chainline of 50-51mm
He has a GXP BB, the manual says no spacers for a 73mm BB, giving a chainline of 48-49mm
He's wondering if he should fit a spacer to the drive side to give the right chainline for the frame.
I can't see any issues with fitting the spacer, have I missed anything that would cause an issue?

I wouldn't do it - the spacers with 68 are to make it up to a 73mm width size. The system must be run at the same width or the crank may not fit on properly.
2mm chainline difference will make little difference though.0 -
adding a spacer to the drive side will do zero to the chainline. this is not shimano....
the chain line is governed by the non drive side spacers, as the axle is clamped between the arm and the BB."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

that is the way i read the info. BUT many do without any issues. as the crank arm does not press on the drive side cup."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
