What Pump?

I am trying to minimise the amount of kit I carry. What pumps do you generally carry for long rides (50 miles or so)? Are very mini pumps any good? Is a gauge neccessary? Also, why do most people stuff them into jersey pockets instead of mounting them on the bike?

  • Lezyne mini pump is excellent IMO.
    Have used one for years.
It's a hose type with presta and schraeder ends which screw on so you can say farewell to all those bent/broken presta ends that you have knackered in the past when using push fit pumps

+1 for the Lezyne. I've had mine a year now, and it works well.

I can vouch for this. Bit pricey compared to some, but does the job well.

+1 for the Lezyne Road Drive. It is light, bling and has a flexible tube that will prevent your valve from bending plus it is quite a good pump :)

    Same for me too.

You don't need a pressure gauge, just pump them up as hard as you can, unlikely you'll be able to over inflate using a hand pump.

I have a pump fitted to my commuter but not on my best bike, purely for aesthetic reasons.

Another for the leyzne road drive. Classy looking pump and works as well as a mini pump can.
