SPD shoes - which pedals to get?

hi have some shimano rt31 shoes http://www.probikekit.com/display.php?code=F0067 and use them with a530 pedals

was thinking of getting some Shimano M545 SPD Pedals - would these be compatible?

    I'd say yes but there are some pedals that only work with certain models of cleat. Wether this is Shimano marketing for you I don't know.
    I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

    If you are currently using them with A530s then they will work perfectly with M545 as well.

    Yes, they are compatible.

    If, in due course, you want to use road pedals they will not work with that shoe.
