Hi
You must excuse my roadie ignorance , as I'm asking the question of behalf of a pal who does mtb , I don't and havnt a clue about mtb equipment
What I'm after is info on factory wheelsets that are v brake compatible & they have a budget of around £150
Any advice appreciated , I'm fitting them to their bike so really don't want to give them bad advice

What bike are they for? Is he a heavy hard rider?
Also I wouldn't limit to just factory only sets, as custom builds from the likes of Merlin are often better value and easier o get spares for.0 -
cassette or freehub? and if cassette how many gears?
general road and canal path useage or a bit more serious?
disc compatible for an update at a later time?
and by "factory" i guess you mean ready built."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Sorry should have put that
It's a female stunt jumper , it's a few years old now , I'm gonna guess it's a 9speed. I think it's gonna be a wheelset capable of glentress0 -
I don't think it's gonna be upgraded to disc I0

I'm guessing at least 8-10 years old if has V brakes.
Classic factory set is the Mavic Crossride:

They are not far off the weight off the original CrossMax. Hard to get spares for though. From Merlin can get XT hubs, Mavic 717 rims with ACI DB spokes for £144. This would be my choice.

I had a look at the bike & told her the rims were trashed and advised getting new ones , so I said if she gets a wheelset I will change them over , then realised , I don't know anything about mtb .... But I'm sure you guys will0

Thanks man , will tell her to look at the 2nd choice0

The quality of build from those guys is amazing. You could save 30 quid with the XM317 rims, but they are 60g heavier a piece, and in my experience a little weaker.0

Will got with your suggestion , I think for what she wants out of them the price is right0
