Basically looking for a new summer bike as summer is just around the corner and doing a few trips away, so want something which hasn't been battered all winter.
I have had a good look around and test rode two bikes which are different but similar in many ways.

The Pinarello FP Quattro (BoB Colour Scheme)

or

Specialized Tarmac Expert

Both come with full shimano ultergra, which will do the job, then similar sort of spec wheels. the only thing is i can't seem to find which is a better frame, better fact of carbon, they were both very stiff and responsive.

Both exactly the same price at £2849

So i'm looking for opinions guys, all opinions would be gratefully received

cheers

As you say for us mere mortals, there aren't so many subjective differences between the top bikes at a given price point. Which one does it for you? Which looks best? Which manufacturer's philosophy makes the most sense to you?

One of the bikes you mention has a certain carisma that would swing it for me, and it ain't the American one
  • agreed but the only hesitation i have is that the pinarellos frame warranty is 3 years and specialized is lifetime!!!

ah well I think i'd love the pinarello more, thanks for the comment really did put it in perspective

Simple.. imagine both bikes as hot tasty burds.. now leave the bar with the one you fancy.
Why tidy the house when you can clean your bike?
  • a sleek italian with curves in all the right places or a full out great bodied racer of an american?!?!?!

    problem...
  • Get both!

    You only live once

See your dilemma.. my coice would be the Tarmac, both are fine bikes. It has to be your choice my friend and it will be the right bike. Specialized occasionaly run promotions.. maybe worth calling a concept store.

Why worry too much about the warrenty? Three years on the Pinarello isn't too bad and to be honest any defects are likely to show up by then. Buy the one you like and fit the best.

Silly question really; you're only going to know which one you want by test riding both, they will feel different guaranteed, then you will know. The warranties/spec are immaterial.
  • A Spesh is like a Clitoris........

The Pinarello is about as Italian as the Spesh

You've already decided you just want us to back you up. Grow a pair and make your decision and to hell what anyone else thinks
