My chain stay unit for for my Garmin 500 has stopped working. I've changed the battery but still nothing. The unit hasn't moved and the magnets (one on the pedal crank and one on the wheel) all line up. There appears to be a reset button which I've pressed but still nothing. Anyone suffered a similar fate? Anyone got any ideas on how to get it working?

Put the battery in backwards for a few seconds - this seems to perform some kind of reset. Then put the battery in as normal and read the instructions on setting it up. Do the lights flash as the wheel magnet and crank magnet pass the sensor?
    More problems but still living....

Found a manual on line and have gone through the set up process. lights on the chain stay unit now flash, and I have a cadence symbol on the computer display. That said when I spin the cranks nothing appears in the cadence fiels on the computer which seems strange.

Have you paired the unit to your GPS?

Have you 'paired' the GCS10 to the bike profile you are using it with.
Menu - settings - bike settings - The bike with the GCS10 on (just below 'data fields') - ant+spd/cad - bike sensors present- yes. Then rescan. This is all in the manual.

Thanks for your replies. I have carried out all that John. T suggests. I now have the have the cadence symbol displayed when I go into settings but when I pick up the back wheel and spin the pedals nothing is displayed in the cadence field on the computer unit which seems strange. I suppose I will find out tomorrow morning on the way to work if any of this has resolved the problem.

Just below 'rescan' it says 'sensor details'. Go to that. It should give you a sensor unit number and say whether it is connected or not. If not then you must rescan. Don't forget you have 3 bike options. Make sure you are on the right one.

If you have further problems with your Garmin the warranty support is awesome , it pains me to say it but I'm on my 4th unit now in 4 years but have always been pleased with Madisons approach to sending out replacements for faulty units

Ok so its still not working, when going through the menu as suggested by John.T it says not connected. After countless rescans it still says not connected. There appears to be a way to manually enter the sensor ID, any idea's where I might find this? It doesn't seem to be on the unit.
