Hi.
Just a few pics from yesterday's DH event in Greno Woods. Not a bad turnout, and was good to see so many people in my local stomping ground. I think that it was a good day, and will hopefully be the first of many.
P.S. The pics aren't great as they are stills from my pocket cam, which was set on 720p - d'oh!

finally somebody has put up something about the day. Didn't enter as I play football Saturdays and it got foookin called off yesterday in the end! by the time it got called off it was too late to go and watch too. shame as i'm literally 5 mins pedal away from Greno woods0

I missed it too - was going to cycle up on the Zaskar, but she was bust lol.0

It was good...although a little too muddy (par for the course around here), but I think they made a good effort. I just wish it'd ben dry and then the riders could have carried a little speed.
Credit to the organisers for getting this done. I went up there with my 6yr old son, who also enjoyed it...and was thrilled to see Peaty stood near him at one point.
Good day out, and it will hopefully happen again in the not too distant future.0 -
Was an awful day weather wise.
How was the course? Will probably go up tomorrow for a look.0 -
It was the main course (or what I consider the main one) that runs through the middle and finishes near the drop-off. It was a bit icky, which slowed everyone down, but fair play to everyone for having a go.
I've just been up around Wharny and Greno for an hour or so, and there's still quite a bit of mud around.0 -
No probs for an XC bike to handle? I thought they might hve added some jumps to that path through or summat.0

It looked like a cool event. Not a DH race, mini or otherwise, though if you ask me but something different and still cool.Uncompromising extremist0

No probs for an XC bike to handle at all. In fact, my mate regularly rides that route on the HT, and the fastest I've ever gone down there has been on my HT rather than the FS.
Jumps would've been good had it been dry then they could've got some speed up, Sonic.
I agree with Northwind that oit wasn't DH as such, but it was still good to have round these parts.0 -
went watching practice, as i was busy in the afternoon. weather was typically wet which meant it was getting a bit boggy. i am new to mountain biking (swapped from mx last year) and it was good to see another place to ride. only live in glossop so its only 20 mins away. went looking at peatys drop that is foookin massive but my bro reckons hes going to give it a go when it warms up0

Is a great place to ride, and just across the main road to the North is the even better Wharncliffe woods.
For those who have not seen it, this is Peaty's drop:

Though god knows what happened to the quality, never used to be that bad! Listen to that bottom out lol.0 -
I think I'll give Peaty's Drop a rest this year.0

i prefer this guys attempt, think it needed a few more pedals than he thought

Was a very good day.
I had a couple of runs of the track in between watching the stall. Top section was OK at first, then mud got the better of it. 2nd half was more flowy, i got some good pump on it.
Was a really good atmosphere to it.0
